Laura began creating training courses and resources for First4Maths Academy in 2023 after being a Mathematics Consultant with First4Maths for 4 years. Prior to this Laura worked as a class teacher in Merseyside and Cheshire for 14 years, teaching across KS1 and KS2. She worked in a Cheshire West School from 2007 – 2019 where she held the role of Mathematics Subject Leader from 2009. During her role she led many large, whole school projects leading to a rise in progress and attainment.
Laura is passionate about the teaching and learning of mathematics and has a desire to see all children grow, develop and achieve their potential as confident and engaged mathematicians. She has a strong belief that the key to conceptual understanding lies in effective use of concrete resources and this is evident in the training that she has produced for First4Maths Academy. Laura wants teachers to feel confident when teaching and modelling to their pupils allowing them to take ownership of the teaching of mathematics in their own classroom.
